A plan is included below of the support that will be provided by school for a number of self-isolation scenarios. Please note that as of September 2021, pupils only need to isolate if they have symptoms of COVID 19 and/or receive a positive lateral flow/PCR test. Positive lateral flow tests need a confirmatory PCR test. If pupils have symptoms, they must take a PCR test (not just a lateral flow, these are for asymptomatic testing only). Despite isolation now only occurring for children that test positive or have symptoms, all possible scenarios of isolation remain included below based on an ever-changing situation. In all scenarios, pupils should only complete work if they are well enough to do so. Isolation scenarios to cover all potential situations include:
Reason for self-isolation | Pupil needs to self-isolate because they have symptoms or have tested positive for COVID. |
Support from school | Remote Learning: Self-isolation half-termly work. The school has provided ‘Self-isolation half-termly work’ on the school website under the COVID-19 tab. Work links are appropriate to the work covered in school this half-term.

Reason for self-isolation | A pupil in the school has a confirmed case of coronavirus. All pupils that have been in close contact with the child need to self-isolate. This could include children from different year groups. |

Reason for self-isolation | A group of children are self-isolating because of a case of coronavirus in their class bubble / year group bubble. |
Support from school | Remote Learning: For the first two days of a class or year group bubble isolating, pupils will access the Self-isolation half-termly work. After the first two days, we will aim for pupils to have work provided on Google Classroom. They have all been shown how to use this in class and use it to access some homework tasks. Please remember that in this scenario, all staff members are likely to remain in school teaching a full timetable to the pupils who are not self-isolating. A mixture of pre-recorded videos from staff at Leighton Middle School; Oak National online lessons and activities; BBC Bitesize and White Rose Maths resources will be used to support learning.

Reason for self-isolation | The whole school is required to self-isolate. |
Support from school | Remote Learning: Using Google Classroom, teachers will create weekly assignments/tasks which will contain all relevant learning material and will allow children to create and submit classwork. A mixture of pre-recorded videos from staff at Leighton Middle School; Oak National online lessons and activities; BBC Bitesize and White Rose Maths resources will be used to support learning.
Timetable: A timetable will be given so that children can follow a structure each day. Some lessons will be dedicated to independent reading and/or Joe Wicks. No additional homework will be set.
Who can I contact if I am having trouble accessing Google Classroom? If you require any support accessing Google Classroom, please email the School Office and we will get back to you as soon as we can. Please ensure you send the name of your child and their year group. |
